The Earth is quaking quite a lot recently. It started with the 2 earthquakes in Oklahoma City yesterday, and last night, and a mudslide occurred this morning in Columbia. The latest quake in Oklahoma registered 5.6 on the Richter Scale, and the largest ever recorded in that state. It was felt all across the Midwest and the South, from North Texas all the way up to Northern Kansas, Missouri and Wisconsin.
A couple of weeks ago, we had a small tremor of the Earth in Texas. I was sitting in my bed praying, and the lamp shade shook lightly. Then the bed moved as if it was being lifted from underneath, and while I was processing what was happening (a matter of seconds), the pens in a glass tinkled across the room. I have never felt an earthquake, but I did that day.We do not live on a fault line; there is one several hundred miles south of us, but the last earthquake was in a similar location about 50 miles from us a couple of years ago.
It turned out that there was an earthquake about 4.7 on the Richter Scale that morning. Then, late in the hurricane season, one arrives in the coastal wasters off of Central America.
2011 has been quite a year.
There was the earthquake that occurred in Washington D.C. this summer, which shook the foundations of the Washington National Monument and The National Cathedral, whose foundation literally rolled, in one eyewitness account. It closed both facilities down.
Weeks later, a hurricane struck the Virginia coast, creating more distress and disaster.
The earth is groaning.
The Lord wants us to pray! The Spirit gives us trials and tribulations, but as Christians, they push us to the Almighty God, and we still stand.
The unrighteous, however, will go from bad to worse, never coming to the truth. Yes, this still happens. Some really are this stubborn and immoral.
Think of Lot and Noah (Genesis). Everyone was having one big party during that time; life was grand…and immoral. Then the Lord called two men and their families to another land. God was calling them out to protect them from the curses coming down on Sodom and Gomorrah.
Many people are beginning to understand that we are entering a season that resembles the prophetic descriptions laid out by Jesus in the Bible. It is a picture that it is a call to prayer and action. What it means is that God is calling us to be sold out to Him! Do not listen to fatalism; that is what the devil wants from you, but seek Him because change is coming.
God is the author of peace.
Sometimes we find ourselves trying to ride the fence of our faith in order not to offend. You know? I might offend the Muslim, Jehovah’s Witness, the Buddhist, etc. if I say that I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Yet, many are giving them a stronghold for the sake of political correctness. The Lord is calling us to stand firm; we cannot just go against our faith for the sake of “keeping peace.” That is not true peace! Eventually, the truth has to come out, because the fence will fall down one way or the other.
Further, we read God’s Word, and we may decide that the Bible no longer applies to our modern day society. We decide that it is no longer the truth, because times have changed. The problem with that kind of thinking is that we are taking His Word, word by word legalistically and religiously, and not into our hearts. Unless we follow the commandments in the Bible in a heart-felt manner, we miss the mark.
What does the earthquake in Washington D.C. mean?
There is not one mention of the name of Jesus Christ on the website of the National Cathedral.
Based on their website, the National Cathedral desires to include people of all religions and call it a church, even though it was founded on Christianity. The cathedral caters to all religions, and then prays for their idea of peace and harmony. Peace is good, but truth is truth.
That isn’t our church, the Church of Jesus Christ, but a meeting place of government officials and political correctness. Truthfully, many Christian churches have tried to walk this line too. A Christian church must uphold the values and truths outlined in the Bible, not according to the government.
What is the Lord calling us to do?
We must keep our foundation in Christ.
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating & drinking, but of righteousness & peace & joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God & approved by men. Romans 14:17-18
The Lord’s blessings to you~Kim
