A homesteading life is healthier, particularly when you grow and raise organic food, and use natural ingredients. We go to the doctor less, even with a special needs child, and we rarely get seriously ill.
God used my son to inspire me.
If I had never given birth to my special needs son, this may never have happened. Sure, I became a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, but I did not get on the healthy lifestyle train until my special needs son got sick. It wasn’t because of his genetic syndrome, but because of food intolerances and allergies. Truth be known, I needed to tend to his gut health, but I didn’t know that at first.
When I began to work on a healthier, whole food kind of diet, I realized that we no longer made weekly or monthly trips to the doctor. My special needs son grew stronger without injections, and soon, he went from 9 medications to 0. He has not had a flu shot in years, and viruses do not put him into the hospital anymore. There are no antibiotics. No extensive medications for reflux and allergies any longer.
It really is a miracle only the Lord can deliver!
Good food is expensive.
Boy, don’t I know it. We eat organic produce, mostly, organic wheat and other pantry staples. However, I opt for buying meat from ZayconFreshFoods, which sells low or no antibiotic meat, and ground beef without the slime.
This is why I started homesteading. It saves me money, provides a healthy lifestyle for my special needs son and my grandson. This life allows me to live frugally, cook from scratch and do as much as we can to help ourselves. I buy in bulk and spend money on large bags of flour, bulk pantry items, like beans, rice and pasta. I make my own yogurt from organic milk.
All this helps me save money and helps us eat well. You can read more about how we make do at my business blog, NaturalOrganicFamilies.
What has homesteading taught me?
Well, you might have noticed, I started this post off with Holy Spirit homesteading. You see, I do believe that God heals us outright, miraculously. All too often, we struggle with fear, or even unbelief in our culture, so we don’t see healings occur like this very often. Other times, God provides other ways of healing to protect us from those around us who have little to no belief. This, too, is a fact of our culture.
So, God taught me Holy Spirit healing. The Lord says, I am going to heal your child. The Spirit says, go here. The Spirit says, do this. Then, after His chosen time, my child, myself, or my animals are healed. Is it miraculous? Absolutely. Often times, it flies in the face of traditional medical knowledge and understanding.
Do you need healing?
Is it for your child, yourself, or a family member?
Ask the Lord, pray and seek His will. Then ask Him to show or tell you where to go and what to do to receive it. I assure you, if you hear the Lord’s voice and discern His will, you will receive what you ask for.
