It was a typical Sunday morning except the rain began right as we entered the building. I scurried my son to his Sunday School room, chatted with our friends, and then I headed into the sanctuary for Sunday service. On my way, I noticed through the glass doors that the rain was now coming down in buckets.
The service began as usual, and after worship, the pastor began a sermon on Matthew 7:24 where Jesus in His sermon on the mount admonishes the people to build their houses on solid foundation and not shifting sand. The pastor went on to pontificate his points about the passage, and then, as if on cue, the lights in the sanctuary went out. The roar of the rain was heard overhead and the rumble of distant thunder.
The sanctuary is rather large, and there are no windows so the only thing visible were the lights from numerous cell phones around the room, and the LED lights strung on the stage. Rising above the noise of the rain and the darkness was the sound of the pastor’s voice, and his call to prayer.
As he started to pray, the lights came back on, but the sound system was still out. He continued to lead the congregation in prayer, and then the worship team stepped up to play. Only this time, we had no special effects. Only the sound of our voices, the acoustical instruments, and the Holy Spirit were heard in a genuine moment of praise and worship. We were inconvenienced but the reason of why we were there was not lost.
It was a very Spirit-filled moment and a very real illustration of how important it is to build our homes on our Solid Foundation, Jesus Christ, and keep it there. When difficult times come, we will remain firm on His foundation and not sink on shifting sand.
This happened right after Pentecost.
Which was just a few weeks before gay marriage was made legal by the Supreme Court in the United States last week. Further, a baker and his wife in Oregon were fined this past week for refusing to give in to not following Christ, and bake a cake that outright denounced God’s design for marriage.
This movement of injustice started with the removal of the Ten Commandments from courthouses during the past few years around the nation— a tradition that was generations old—but suddenly became highly offensive to some who are not Christians. Then, among other events, several children this past school year have been forced to deny their Christianity in classroom assignments in the public schools. On and on it has gone like this, one thing after another.
Yet the time is now for us to pray against the tidal wave of injustice and take action where He calls us to.
The Spirit is calling us to #pray against the tide and He will push it back until it dissipates.
God is positioning His Bride, the Church.
As if also on cue this week, I read (and witnessed myself) about a celestial display in the night skies that first appeared on the night of June 30 in one of my Breaking Christian News emails last week.
Yet, again, in the year of four Blood Moons and a solar eclipse, we have a celestial set-up much like what was discovered as possible physical evidence of the Star of Bethlehem. Regulus, the star known as the heart of the constellation Leo, the lion, is now hanging above a very bright planet Venus (known as the female star) in the night sky, and uncommonly close to it is the planet Jupiter (named after the Greek god Zeus). The theory is that perhaps the two were so close together during Jesus’ birth that their light together mimicked a star. Through astrological research this event is known to have occurred shortly after our Savior’s birth. And now here it is in July 2015.
All three are easily visible to the naked eye just about an hour after sunset this week. The planets were at their closest this year on June 30, being only 1/3 of a degree apart from Earth’s viewpoint, nearly on top of each other.
The stars speak for themselves: God is drawing His Church closer to Him. He wants His Bride to rise up and shine, free from the idols of the world. The King is Lord over the Church. He wants us to follow Him first; we need to get in alignment with the Head.
The Holy Spirit is raining down on the Church.
As is displayed in the planet Venus’ brightness this week, the Church will shine under the light of the King, Jesus, the Lion of Judah. She will follow Him and He will shine His light over her.
Those who listen to His calling will rise up. Those who let go of the shackles that have held them in bondage will be set free. The prisoners who have been held captive and enslaved will be set free. There will be an increase in weddings, pregnancies, and births. God has sent down a double portion of His Holy Spirit to shower the Body with His love and redemption. He will bless those who have been in drought, and shower them with His presence. He will bring many out of injustice and into the Light of His justice.
By the end of the calendar year, the Bride’s foundation will be in Him because He is her Savior, her Groom, and Provider. Her Light will be present for all to see. Love will shine. And the harvest will come. The sickle has been set in motion.
Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can floods drown it.
If a man offered for love
all the wealth of his house,
he would be utterly despised.
Song of Solomon 8:7
The Quake is coming.
Here also is a Word from the Lord: There is to be an earthquake across the nation that will shake the borders. The goats will be at the doors of our country, but Light will come and remove them. They will not rise up, but they will be brought down and scattered, because they will no longer have authority over My people. Remember your brothers and sisters, as well as their children, across the globe in prayer. There are those who are suffering under intense persecution and yes, even death for their faith. Care for those you can care for, and I will remove their burdens, says the Lord.
Walk in the power and authority of the Holy Spirit.
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon turned to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord. Acts 2:17-20
These are but the birth pangs.
